She replaced Nancy Haneman, who stepped down after three years in the position. Haneman will remain on the board.

Brunner has lived in Rye for more than 50 years and is involved in many local organizations. She will serve at the helm of SPRYE for the next two years.

Tom Saunders will continue to chair the Executive Committee, whose other members are Brunner, former Rye Brook Mayor Joan Feinstein, Alan Kelsey and Haneman.

Elected as new members of the board are former Port Chester Village Clerk and Manager Richard "Fritz" Falanka and Michele Thomas.

With its fourth anniversary approaching in the fall, SPRYE continues to thrive and grow. More than 60 volunteers give their time to provide extra support to members who want to remain in their own homes and communities for as long as they possibly can.

SPRYE serves the communities of Harrison, Port Chester, Rye and Rye Brook, providing services to adults 60 and older. Services include transportation to medical appointments, for grocery shopping and other essential errands, handyman help, technical help and a calendar of social and educational programs geared to the interests of its members.
