Lee, 49, made the announcement Tuesday morning on ABC-TV's "Good Morning America."

Lee had posted an update on her condition through her website on Sunday night, calling her breast cancer complications "an unreal chain of events," according to the Politics on the Hudson blog.

Lee, who was in Los Angeles on Sunday to attend the Emmy Awards, said she was "still stunned" at the changes in her life since being diagnosed with cancer in May.

She underwent a double mastectomy that same month, and dealt with an infection in August that required her to have another surgery, reported Politics on the Hudson.

In her update, Lee said the infection "threw her a bit."
