You can tune in to local announcements and meetings on channel 1960. In addition to viewing the town scroll, you will also be able to see taped Town Board meetings, three times a day, as well as the Board meetings as they are being broadcast, live.

Harrison High School students, William and Cassie Marriott, will begin a 23-day cross country bicycle trek to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research, treatment and education.

William and Cassie are trying to help raise $396,800, for the cause, or $100 for each mile ridden. Their journey will begin on July 2, at the Brooklyn Bridge, and will end on July 24 at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge.

Splitting into 3 teams, with each team starting at different points across the country, ensures that the country will be traversed. They would like to make our community aware of this event and more information can be found here. I wish William and Cassie the best as they contribute to this incredible cause.

I would like to recognize all who participated in this year’s D.A.R.E. program. I was able to attend the D.A.R.E. Graduation Ceremony, held last week, and to celebrate the accomplishments of the sixth grade participants.

I would also like to acknowledge Joanne Lucas. In addition to being a valued member of our community, she has been committed to Harrison’s D.A.R.E. program for over 20 years. Joanne devoted her time making sure that the children of our community benefited from a comprehensive plan designed to combat substance abuse. In addition to performing administrative duties for the D.A.R.E. Officers, she spent many hours publicizing events and coordinating workshops. I would like to thank Joanne for all she has done for the Police Department, the town and the young residents of Harrison.

Congratulations to this year’s Harrison Football Hall of Fame Inductees, Ernie Fiore, Bob Sollazzo, Willy Melikian (posthumously), Emil Iannucci and Marc Maraglino. The Hall of Fame Dinner was held last week and it was an honor to be in attendance.

I would also like to pay tribute to the many years of loyal service Karen Troilo has given to the football team and their wonderful fans. Karen dedicated her time to the team for over 40 years. She watched every play with intense focus and carefully recorded important numbers, creating the official record for each game.
