Volunteers Plant 300 Trees, Shrubs In Scarsdale

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- More than 100 volunteers took part Saturday in planting 300 trees and shrubs along Brewster Road to help increase Scarsdale's green infrastructure, according to an article on scarsdale10583.com.

The trees and shrubs were native species that replaced invasive plants, such as mugwort, knotweed and loose strife that had taken over the area, the article said.

Beth Roessler, of the state Department of Environmental Conservation, said the department donates trees to watershed areas to help maintain healthy streams and waterways, according to the article.
