WEST HARRISON, N.Y. – Library Director Galina Chernykh is inviting families to the West Harrison Library Thursday morning to have family portraits taken as part of the library’s “Building Common Ground” series.
The library has been hosting the series the past month with lectures dealing with civility and compassion. Chernykh said despite people’s differences, most value the same things, like reading, education and the library.
“We did this last December where we took winter holiday family portraits,” Chernykh said. “This was to celebrate the holidays and out community. This blends together with our recent programs because we can visual see our differences but realize how similar we are.”
Chernykh said the photos will be posted on the library’s website. She is hoping to coordinate with the town and maybe have them exhibited in the fall. All families will be asked to sign a permission slip before taking the photos. The event begins at 11 a.m. at the West Harrison Library. On July 18, pictures will be taken downtown at the Harrison Public Library.
