HARRISON, N.Y. A car accident at approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday temporarily shut down Halstead Avenue from Harrison Avenue to Purdy Street.
Harrison firefighters who were on the scene said that a woman was trying to park her Toyota Camry into a parking space on Halstead Avenue but instead of putting her car into reverse, she put it into drive and crashed in front of a tractor trailer in front of her. The tractor trailer was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Halstead and Harrison avenues heading south at the time of the accident.
Harrison firefighters said the road was closed for about 15 minutes while traffic was rerouted around the accident scene.
No injuries were reported.
