HARRISON, N.Y. - A White Plains man was arrested last week when Harrison police found him to have stolen scrap metal from the Journal News property at 1 Gannett Dr., reports said.
Ricky E. Hall, 43, of 188 Fisher Ave., was seen by surveillance cameras stealing assorted scrap metal out of a dumpster outside the building after being advised not to on Jan. 7, reports said. He was arrested and charged with three counts of petit larceny and three counts of trespassing.
Hall was released on $250 bail with a return court date of Jan. 17.
Gannett Facilities Supervisor David Nolan told police that two unknown African American men approached Senior Mechanic John Roma, who was loading scrap metal into a dumpster container. After a brief discussion, Roma was said to have advised the men not to return to the dumpster to retrieve any scrap metal, reports said.
The men, reports said, were Hall and his brother Vernon, a resident of Greenburgh. Vernon Hall has not yet been arrested.
Nolan said he noticed the dumpster to be empty days later on Jan. 9. After reviewing surveillance videos, he said he noticed the same two men retrieving scrap metal from the dumpster.
The video footage will be given to police, reports said, while Nolan reported intentions to pursue criminal charges against the men.
