HARRISON, N.Y. - Tony Award-winning singer and actress Audra McDonald will headline a Purchase College gala later this month benefiting the Neuberger Museum of Art and the Performing Arts Center.
She will perform songs from "The Great American Songbook" after cocktails and hors d'oeuvres to benefit the Friends of the Neuberger Museum of Art and The Performing Arts Center Foundation.
The performance is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 29, beginning at 5 p.m.
Festivities will be held in both the museum and Performing Arts Center at Purchase College at 735 Anderson Hill Road in Purchase.
"We're marshaling our forces to celebrate two vital organizations and show our passion for and appreciation of great art and performance," Lea Emergy, deputy director of the Neuberger Museum of Art said.
The evening begins in the gallery at the Neuberger Museum where Dana Schutz's "I the Face Had Wheels" is on display.
After dinner and inside the PAC upper lobby at 6:30 p.m., McDonald will perform, followed by a dessert reception at 10:30 p.m.
McDonald captured three Tony Awards for her performances in "Carousel," "Master Class," and "Ragtime" by the age of 28. She will also be appearing in the role of Bess in a revised version of Porgy and Bess on Broadway, beginning next December.
Individual gala tickets are $500 and will nclude cocktails, dinner, concert, and dessert. Tickets for the performance and reception only are $275. Tickets for the gala with an additional half-page tribute in the event's program are $1,250.
