Boston Marathon Runner Tops Harrison's News This Week

HARRISON, N.Y. -- Here are some of the top stories from Harrison this week.

  • Ty Powers was half a mile away from the finish line at the Boston Marathon when the bombs went off. The students at S.J. Preston Elementary School encouraged him to finish the race at their school, and presented him a $3,000 check for cancer research.
  • The family of Harrison resident Andrea DeSilva is investigating her death after she underwent cosmetic surgery in Florida. She had several procedures on April 5 and passed away on April 24.
  • Harrison police will be cracking down on seat belt laws. The move is part of a two-week campaign to increase seat belt use.
