HARRISON, N.Y. -- A meeting between Purchase College students and the Dalai Lama tops Harrison's news this week.

  • A group of 16 students were granted a private audience with the Dalai Lama during a trip to India. The spiritual leader of Tibet told the students, "Our religion is about love and compassion, and the practice of non-violence."
  • Harrison Mayor Ron Belmont launched a new television series to give residents updates about the town. The first installment focused on the highlights and accomplishments of 2012.
  • Harrison's public pools will be open every day starting Monday. The Ron Belmont Pool and the Bernie Guagnini Brentwood Pool will both be open from noon to 6 p.m. the first week. The following week they will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
