HARRISON, N.Y. - DeCicco's Family Market is coming to Harrison and is expected to make the announcement public within the next month.
Sources say representatives of the gourmet supermarket have met with town officials and will be moving into the building at 5 Halstead Ave., which currently houses Food City. Sources say Food City is expected to close sometime in June.
Harrison officials are hoping that bringing in an upscale grocery store and market will help spearhead a revitalization effort downtown that has been in the works for several years. DeCicco's, which has locations in Ardsley, Brewster, Chester Heights, Cross River, Jefferson Valley, New City, Pelham and Scarsdale, is known to bring in customers from other towns, which has hurt Harrison in the past.
DeCicco's started as a single store in the Bronx in 1972, before expanding to Westchester.
"With a lot of hard work, customer satisfaction, superior service and a constant presence of the best food options available on the market, DeCicco's built itself a well-cemented reputation of being the food market of choice for those who have a serious love for food and cooking in general," the market says on its website.
