Officials with Brightview Senior Living has a contract to buy the 7.3-acre property, and have asked for zoning changes to build a 160-unit building at 600 Lake St. An attorney for the developer said the project could end years of problems between the town and property owner over use of the land, lohud.com reported.

But neighbors say it would be too big, and create a host of problems for the area. A petition opposing the project has, so far, collected more than 300 signatures, lohud.com reported.
