HARRISON, N.Y. - A website editor was among several people facing drug charges after being arrested in Harrison in recent weeks, according to police reports released Friday.
Harrison police arrested and charged news editor Nikolas J. Bonopartis, 32, with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, after initially stopping him near 245 Halstead Ave. for tossing a cigarette outside his car window on Jan. 6.
After being stopped, police found Bonopartis's license to have been suspended in New York. Police searched the vehicle and said they found a plastic bottle and glass pipe that had marijuana residue, alongside opium poppies and poppy straws.
Bonopartis was released after posting $200 bail and is due in court on Jan. 24.
Police reports listed an additional six marijuana arrests made through January, including one on Bronx resident William F. Marengo, 22, who was stopped on Anderson Hill Rd. on Jan. 8 after allegedly driving 68 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone, reports said.
Marengo was caught with an odor of raw marijuana coming from his vehicle before police seized 41 small glassine envelopes of marijuana inside the car alongside 20 larger bags, weighing 8.25 ounces. He was arrested and charged he was released on $750 bail with a return court date of Jan. 24.
