WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Heavy rain combined with melting snow could result in localized flooding and possible ice jams in the area, the National Weather Service warns.

Moderate rises in area rivers and streams are possible this weekend into early next week, with the increased flow causing ice to break up and move, the weather service said.

Ice jam flooding is unpredictable and sudden, according to the weather service, which advises that those with interests along larger rivers and streams monitor weather forecasts for the latest information.

The outlook for Sunday calls for mostly cloudy skies with a high between 45 and 47.
