HARRISON, N.Y. Dave Franze, a lifelong West Harrison resident, is a music enthusiast and volunteer at the Harrison Department of Recreation.
I am more than willing to give my time back to a town that have given much to me, said Franze, who finds, books and schedules bands for the summer concerts.
The grateful Franze said he has fond memories of growing up in Silver Lake and that he would like to reciprocate those great feelings to his fellow residents through music.
As an adult, if I can create a few memorable moments for not only myself, but for all involved in the music, I feel my time is well spent, Franze said.
He thanked Harrison Recreation Department superintendent Gerry Salvo and Harrison Mayor Ron Belmont for their continued support of the Annual Summer Concert Series.
They have been instrumental, and very cooperative, in keeping the summer concerts alive, Franze said.
Franze is more than willing to help bands participating in the summer concert series, including Valhalla-based Counterfeit Society, who performed Wednesday night. He said local bands are always a priority.
They are local talent the two Gisondi brothers have Harrison roots, Franze said of the band members family. Their paternal grandparents still live in Harrison. They are finishing a CD of original compositions as we speak.
Mostly, he looks forward to seeing people at the concerts, which happened in abundance at the July 11 Wanderers concert. The band, which sings 1950s and '60s favorites, performed to rave reviews in front of nearly 450 people at Riis Park.
The Harrison Recreation Department-sponsored concerts are twice a week until Aug. 16. Movies will be shown at the Brentwood pool and Ron Belmont pool Aug. 22 and 23, respectively.
