HARRISON, N.Y. - After 30 years of service, Friends of the Harrison Public Library President Lola Geiger said she was retiring from the position. The organization is looking to the residents of Harrison to fill her shoes.
"I love Harrison, the library, and the Friends. However, as the Bible says, there is a right time for everything," Geiger said. "It has been my pleasure and joy to help the Friends."
Geiger joined the organization over 30 years ago and helped facilitate staple events like an ongoing book sale table and library newsletter, the Friends of the Harrison Public Library said in a statement.
"No one can deny that Lola Geiger is truly inspirational," the organization said. "At almost 90 years old, this one-woman dynamo has worked tirelessly to strengthen, support and improve the Harrison community."
The Friends of the Harrison Public Library is looking for someone to fill the role of president upon Geiger's retirement.
Those interested in volunteering their time to the Friends can submit their name and contact information to HarrisonLibraryTrustees@gmail.com .
