The community is coming together to show support for the family of CJ Principato, a 17-year-old Harrison High School student who remains in intensive care after his car wrapped around a utility pole Wednesday in Harrison.
The crash occurred at the corner of Highland Road and Highland Park Place around 10 p.m. when the car crashed into a telephone pole, bringing down utility lines, resulting in the loss of power to homes in the area.
The Harrison High School Student Council, on behalf of the Harrison Central School District community, has set up a GoFundMe page for CJ and his family.
Principato, who suffered head trauma, remains in critical condition at Westchester Medical Center.
The page was close to reach its goal of $10,000 on Saturday morning after raising more than $7,000 in less than a day.
Harrison police are investigating whether speed or a mechanical problem caused the crash.
Counseling is being provided for Harrison High School students.
