Government Offices, Libraries Shut For Labor Day

HARRISON, N.Y. – Government buildings, two libraries and a post office are among the things that will be closed Labor Day Weekend into the holiday Monday.

The Harrison Public Library and West Harrison Library are open until 5:30 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively, Friday. While the Harrison Public Library re-opens at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, the West Harrison Public Library re-opens at 10 a.m.

The Harrison Post Office will close at 5 p.m. Friday and re-opens at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The municipal building is closes at 4 p.m. Friday and re-opens at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Garbage pick-up will not take place Monday because of the federal holiday and there will be no bulk pick-up Wednesday. For those whose trash is picked up Monday and Tuesday, that will be moved to Tuesday and Thursday, respectively. If your garbage pick-up normally falls on a Tuesday or Friday, that will be moved to Wednesday and Friday, respectively.

For those whose recycling is picked up Monday and Tuesday, that will be moved to Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

When it comes to personal businesses, it is up to the owner, and a call ahead is suggested to make sure they are open Monday.
