Habitat For Humanity Kicks Off Earth Day Events In Westchester

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Habitat for Humanity kicked off its Earth Week events with more than 50 volunteers working in community Gardens and neighborhood projects in Mount Vernon and Yonkers, and is hosting upcoming events.

A rundown of all upcoming events is below. 

Wednesday, April 22: 

  • Solar Contractors breakfast public is welcome. Learn about Solar initiatives for your home. from 7:30-9 a.m. at 659 Main St., New Rochelle.

Sunday, April 26: 

  • Free Habitat trolley, a green form of public transportation. From noon to 2 p.m.
  • Pallet Gardening lesson by guest speaker Jay from Dominic Bulfamante Inc. Nursery at 2 p.m. 
  • New Rochelle Train exhibit all day.

All week long there will be 25 percent off existing low pricing and presentations at the greenest store in New York; Habitat for Humanity of Westchester ReStore (located at 659 Main St., New Rochelle). There will be raffles all week, as well as gift certificates and more.

Habitat also will post tips daily on social media and information for guests on how to save energy and implement green roofs, community gardens and more!
