Harrison All-Stars Take on Harlem Wizards

HARRISON, N.Y. -- Harrison basketball just got a bit more technical.

The Harlem Wizards dribbled through Harrison's elementary schools to benefit the district's Four School Fund-raiser, and schooled teachers and district officials in the process. Harrison principals from all the local elementary schools participated in the event, acting as good sports against the sport experts.

The Wizards dazzled Harrison's local students and teachers with their unique brand of entertainment by showing off their basketball skills and antics. In a match against Harrison's All-Star team made up of teachers and principals, district officials said the event was a perfect mix of humor and athleticism as part of the Elementary Enrichment Committee's fund-raiser.

Parsons Elementary School Principal Bob Torp hit the court in stripes alongside S.J. Preston Elementary School Principal Jeremy Barker to serve as the event's referees.

Members of the Elementary Enrichment program said the event was created in conjunction with the committee's message to support programs such as theater and cultural arts, the "visiting authors" program, scholarships and workshops.

Sponsored programs such as the Harlem Wizards' visit to Harrison, local elementary school students through Harrison's four schools are given the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in literature and performing arts, the school said.
