Harrison Alumnus Tees Off Pro Golf Career

HARRISON, N.Y. - Ryan Ekey has a lot to be proud of and so should his hometown of Harrison.

The 2005 graduate of Harrison High School played in his first pro golf tournament last week at the Florida chapter of the Special Olympics Fundraiser Pro-Am.

Ekey, 24, didn't only go through the Harrison Central School District, he also went to college at the nearby SUNY Purchase. There, he excelled as captain of the school's golf team and was the first student to ever win a tournament as an individual. He graduated from the college in May of 2011.

Even after college, Ekey remained an active member of his town's golf scene as he worked caddying at the Purchase Brae Burn Country Club while playing in local Metropolitan Golf Association tournaments. He recently moved to Florida to pursue his pro golf aspirations.
