Harrison Candidates Confident on Election Day

HARRISON, N.Y. - Harrison mayoral candidates Ron Belmont (R, C, I) and incumbent Joan Walsh (D) were still hard at work to close out their campaigns the best they could one day before the election.

"I expect to win," Walsh said. "I think we will do very well. I expect a clean sweep."

Belmont said he was hopeful the results would benefit him and his team .

"I'm going to leave it in the hands of the good Lord," Belmont said. "I'll say a good prayer, go to Mass in the morning, and hope everything works out the way it should."

Months of hard work will reach a tipping point Tuesday when Harrison voters take to the polls to determine several local government positions. While Belmont will challenge Walsh for the mayor and supervisor position, members of both their political teams have also spent the last weeks campaigning heavily for the positions of town council and clerk .

The Walsh Team's Row-A ticket includes town council candidates Howard Hollander and Pat Vetere and town clerk candidate Frank Corvino (D), who will face off against Belmont Team council candidates Stephen Malfitano, Fred Sciliano and clerk candidate Jackie Greer (R).

On his last day of campaigning, Belmont said he was staying upbeat.

"I'm feeling very positive. I've received a lot of good feedback these two months," Belmont said. "People have seemed very impressed about how my team handled the campaign. We stayed positive and spoke about what we could do for the town."

Walsh said she expected to continue to serve Harrison as mayor for another term given the positive response she said voters have given her campaign.

"We were out and around and saw a very positive response," Walsh said. "I'm confident, looking forward to the results, and looking forward to working with the new board."
