Harrison Featured in MSG Varsity's 'The Challenge'

HARRISON, N.Y. - Harrison High School will send five seniors to the big screen this week when they compete against Pearl River High School in the first round of MSG Varsity's "The Challenge." The show is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 6:30 p.m.

Out of 25 total students who tried out for the team, Harrison's Emma Adler, Jacob Seidman, Robert Tiburzi, Rachel Oestreicher and Daniel Glass were chosen to represent the school after several rounds of written and oral competitions. They practice twice a week under the direction of advisors Heath Kaplan and Rachel Voss, the school said.

"We have been putting in a lot of work and hope to see this program grow at Harrison High School," Kaplan said. "Our goal is to expand the team so that we can enter Quiz Bowl tournaments around the tri-state area."

The team is on a constant watch for more competition, Kaplan said, as they've been practicing their skills while facing off against five different Harrison teachers to only lose by a few points. They will plan another practice match against their parents in the near future, the school said.

Harrison's team will compete again in mid-February if they are victorious against Pearl River.

"We have a great team and I believe we have the ability and drive to advance in this competition," Kaplan said.
