HARRISON, N.Y. - The Harrison fireworks show scheduled for Sunday night has been postponed due to inclement weather. The event was moved to Monday night for 9:30 p.m. at the Oakland Avenue field with support from many town organizations and companies.
Residents were stopped in their paths Sunday night as they approached the field when flocks of early arrivers turned back to their cars. A yellow sign was placed on the field's fence reading, "postponed."
John Andrews and his family stopped on the Harrison Avenue bridge above the Harrison train station to get a view of the nearby fireworks being shot off at Rye Playland.
"It's a shame that I won't be able to make the rain date tomorrow," he said. "I don't know why Playland can celebrate tonight, but we can't."
Various Harrison businesses and organizations including the Westchester Brassman, Harrison VFW, fire department, Pizza 2000, and the town of Harrison sponsored the event.
