The band began displaying more than 300 American flags on the front lawn of the school a few years ago as a tribute to local and state veterans, who have offered their service and, in some cases, their lives, to protect the country.

The band members raise the money for the flags and for charitable organizations each year. Money raised last year was donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Each flag represents donations made by parents, family and community members in honor of a veteran. The flags display the name of the honored veteran on gold ribbons.
