WEST HARRISON, N.Y. Kids in Harrison descended Sunday afternoon upon the West Harrison Village Green for the annual Spring Egg Hunt.
Harrison Recreation employees prepared the green with both chocolate and plastic eggs, the latter containing candy for kids to pick up and put in their baskets. Children were grouped by age and rushed onto the green with their parents to pick up as many delectable goodies as they could when their age group was called.
Though the event was supposed to take place on Saturday morning, rain caused the event to be postponed and rescheduled to Sunday afternoon. But the date change did not affect the turnout for the event as hundreds of kids and parents showed up to participate.
According to recreation employee T.J. Troiano, the event serves as a community gathering where people come have fun with their neighbors, friends and meet others they didnt previously know.
Weve been doing this event forever and the kids love it, Troiano said. Its definitely great for the community. It gets kids outside and active and its fun for their parents too.
Before and during the egg hunt, childrens games, rides and a bouncy castle were setup in the parking lot adjacent to the village green for even more family fun.
