Harrison Library Has Full Slate Of Events In Sept.

HARRISON, N.Y. – The Harrison Public Library has many events planned for September, including everything from playing board games and watching movies to reading books and preparing for tests.

Saturday, Sept. 8: Children of all ages will have the chance to read to a dog starting at 11 a.m.

Monday, Sept. 10: Jim Rose, a former Johnson & Johnson executive, will lead people in meditation from 7 to 8 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 15: Library patrons will have the opportunity to meet the artist of the month, whose work will be displayed in the art gallery, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, Sept 19: The library will show “Leap Year” from 12:30 to 3 p.m. You are asked to bring lunch, but drinks will be provided.

Wednesday, Sept 19: The Millennium Book Club will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. to discuss “15 Seconds” by Andrew Gross. Registration is not necessary and refreshments will be served.

Wednesday, Sept. 19: Patrick Raftery, a Westchester County Historical Society representative, will give a slide show titled “From Wigwams to Corporate Headquarters” from 7 to 8 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 22: Library patrons will be able to take a free ACT or SAT practice test to find out how they would do and which test they would perform better on. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mondays, Sept. 10, 17 and 24: Story land from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Children ages 3 to 5 are welcome along with their siblings to listen to children’s stories.

Mondays, Sept. 10, 17 and 24: Board games from 4 to 5 p.m. All ages are allowed to join in the fun. You can play the library’s board games or bring your own.

Thursdays, Sept. 6 and 13, and Saturday, Sept. 29: Computer orientation at 10:30 a.m. Patrons can learn to search the Internet and the computerized library catalog. The library says, “If you are feeling left behind in this technology-oriented world, this class is for you.”

Wednesdays, Sept. 5, 19 and 26: Circle Time for Tots from 10 to 10:30 a.m. and 11 to 11:30 a.m. This event is for 1- to 3-year-olds, and siblings are welcome. Participants will sing and read songs and stories.
