Harrison Police Arrest Yonkers Man for DWI

HARRISON, N.Y. - A Yonkers man was arrested earlier this month and charged with driving while intoxicated and marijuana possession while driving on Mamaroneck Ave. in Harrison, police said.

Reports said that Kawabena Afriyie, 23, was pulled over by Harrison Police Oct. 7 close to 2 a.m. After noticing the scents of marijuana and alcohol, police administered various sobriety tests to which Afriyie could not successfully complete.

Afriyie admitted he had smoked marijuana and was arrested after police determined he was under the influence of alcohol and also found marijuana in his car. He was charged with possession of marijuana and driving while intoxicated and was scheduled to be in Harrison Court Oct. 17.

Also in the police blotter:

- Jeffrey Senger, 47, of Darien, Conn., was arrested on the evening of Oct. 3 after Harrison police saw him smoking what appeared to be a marijuana cigarette outside of Halstead Avenue's Harrison Ale House. Senger was charged with possession of marijuana and was released on $90 bail with a return court date of Oct. 18.

- Harrison police reported Anthony Bommarito, 23, of Harrison, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana Oct. 4 when he was initially pulled over for using his cell phone while driving. Police said they found marijuana and a pipe in his car during the stop but did not sense any signs of impairment from the driver. Bommarito was arrested for marijuana possession and received a summons for wireless phone use while driving.
