Harrison Police Spread Holiday Cheer to Children

HARRISON, N.Y. – Children at the White Plains United Preschool Center enjoyed an early visit from the big man in red last week when the Harrison Police Department stopped by.

Police Officer Michael Walther dressed as Santa Claus while officers Carmine Gentile, Edward Arce and John Carney arrived as his merry men. The officers volunteered time to help raise money to buy each child a gift from their wish lists.

Carney has been running the program for the last five years and said it couldn't have been possible without the help from his fellow officers as well as the local community.

Each child received a personalized gift as recommended by the pre-school teaching staff. The children sat excited to receive their new toys and thanked the officers with hand-made cards from each of the five visited classrooms.

The members of the Harrison Police Department have been visiting the pre-school for over 20 years in hopes of enhancing the children's holiday season.
