HARRISON, N.Y. -- Harrison Town Clerk Jackie Greer announced the town has received a grant for about $22,000 to install a Space-saver Mechanical Assist Mobile Shelving System.
The shelving system will be utilized to store the building department’s files. The department maintains a folder on every building within the boundaries of the Town-Village of Harrison.
These folders contain but are not limited to building and site plans, zoning variances, certificates of occupancy, tree, electrical, plumbing, sewer, residential, commercial and small business permit files.
The new mobile shelving system will allow all of the files to be kept in one place at the municipal building and will allow for a 98 percent increase in storage capability.
Files currently are stored in three separate buildings -- the building department office, the municipal building basement and one off-site facility, an abandoned maintenance garage 10 miles away.
