Arton Mirakaj held $76,677 in his hand and didn't even know it when he sold a winning Take Five lottery ticket to a town native.
By the end of that day last month, Harrison's Nicholas Basciano was a registered winner of the New York Lottery.
Mirakaj said Basciano's sister is a regular at his Big Top stationery store on Halstead Avenue and she purchased the winning ticket. The Basciano family could not be reached for comment.
"She comes in almost every day," Mirakaj said. "We've also sold more Take Five tickets recently because of this."
Mirakaj works part time at the Big Top with David Scaglione and said Basciano's sister still frequents the store to purchase lottery tickets on a regular basis.
"She even came in today," Scaglione said. "She still buys lottery tickets and wants to win again."
Basciano registered as a winner May 12 for scratching off a winning Take Five lottery ticket. He claimed the prize June 6 at the Empire City Casino in Yonkers. The winning numbers for that drawing were 4, 9, 10, 18, and 38.
The game is drawn nightly and requires players to match their chosen numbers with drawn numbers from one to 39.
