Harrison Student to Host Pet Supply Drive

HARRISON, N.Y. - Harrison eighth-grader Ricky Harris will kick off an independent service project this weekend to benefit a local animal shelter.

The Louis M. Klein Middle School student will be holding a pet supply and food drive throughout February to gather donations for the Pets Alive Animal Shelter in Elmsford. The independent service project is part of his work for the Junior National Honor Society.

Harris will begin his collections Sunday at the White Plains Stop & Shop, where he will accept donations and distribute information about the Elmsford shelter.

The following items are always needed at the Pets Alive Shelter: dog collars, slip leads, cat litter, dry and canned dog food, dry and canned cat food, corn oil, dog and cat toys, dog and cat treats, cat cardboard scratches, anti-pull harnesses, paper towels, laundry detergent, liquid fabric softener, kitchen garbage bags with drawstring, liquid hand soap, hand sanitizer, extra large black garden garbage bags, Murphy's oil soap, bleach, duct tape, AA batteries, AAA batteries, reams of paper, Post-It Notes, scrubby sponges, Ziploc Baggies, Clorox Cleanup.

Monetary Donations are also always appreciated.
