Harrison Students Raise Money for Breast Cancer

HARRISON, N.Y. - Students and faculty members at Louis M. Klein Middle School raised $700 in the name of breast cancer awareness in their "Dollars for Dedication" program with proceeds donated to the local chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Seventh and eighth grade students presented Darrin Goldin, a representative of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, with the check for $700. Goldin thanked the LMK community for its generous donation and encouraged the students to stay involved with any cause that is near to their hearts, adding that even the youngest members of society can make a difference.

The school's sixth, seventh and eighth grade councils organized the fundraiser in support of October being named Breast Cancer Awareness month. The program encouraged students and faculty members to purchase $1 pink bracelets. Along with the bracelets came the opportunity to dedicate best wishes ribbons, which were put on display in the school's front lobby.
