The money will be received over the next three years to benefit what Strauss referred to as "the highest priority strategic initiatives in support of our developing strategic plan."
In a statement, Strauss said the donor gave the money with the understanding it would be used for specific college initiatives.
There will be $2 million designated to help implement new college programs, hire staff, create dedicated space, and manage technologies for academic programs. Another $1 million will go towards facilities improvements, including a welcome center and new lounges and gathering spaces. The remaining $2 million will be "employed in partnership with the new president, when selected, to help implement the highest priority initiatives," Strauss said.
"This marvelous gift will be the keystone to the successful implementation of our developing strategic plan," Strauss said. "Please join me in thanking members of the board of trustees and all of those who were instrumental in making this gift a reality."
