"I believe in Tim Cluess and continue to be impressed by all he has been able to achieve with his talented team and staff," said Iona College President Dr. Joseph E. Nyre in a statement. "We couldn't be more pleased with his tremendous accomplishments on and off the court."

"The success Coach Cluess has had since arriving at Iona has been almost unprecedented," said Director of Athletics Rick Cole, Jr.

"We're very excited to have him on board for at least another five years. His commitment to the overall success of his student-athletes is what makes Coach Cluess the right man for Iona."

"I'm very proud to be a part of the Iona College community," said Cluess. "We will continue to work hard to build on our recent success on the court and I'm very appreciative of the support Dr. Nyre and our administration has given us.”

The 12th coach in Iona history, Cluess is currently the program’s fifth most-winning coach with 90 total wins. Cluess has guided the Gaels to four straight years with more than 20 wins and is the only coach in program history to accomplish the feat in his first four seasons.

Iona College enters the 2014 MAAC Championship as the No. 1 seed. The squad is led by five players averaging 10 or more points including All-MAAC First Team performers Sean Armand and A.J. English and All-MAAC Second Team member David Laury.

The Gaels take on the winner of No. 8 seed Rider and No. 9 seed Monmouth in the quarterfinal at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass., on Saturday, March 8 at noon.
