HARRISON, N.Y. - New York Yankees Manager Joe Girardi lives in Purchase with his wife and three children and said he's proud to be part of the larger Harrison community. Some of his favorite parts of the town, he said, are the people and the feel of the area.
"The people here make me feel welcome," Girardi said. "My family loves the different neighborhoods."
Girardi, an Italian-American, fits right in as nearly 40 percent of Harrison residents have an Italian background. He cited the food in Harrison as one of his favorite aspects of the area.
Also on his list of favorites is the town's downtown area. He said he and his family enjoy the character of the downtown business district and appreciate the unique shops in the area.
Naturally, Girardi also said he loves Harrison's local sports teams and the residents' passion for different sports, including Harrison Huskies football.
"We love all the different sports teams here," Girardi said. "Not to mention the local papers here, which cover all those things."
What's one of his favorite things to do in Harrison? Taking the kids trick-or-treating for Halloween.
