  • The Jarden Corporation in Rye has pledged to donate up to $100,000 to the Harrison Public Library's upcoming renovation. Jarden will contribute $1 for every $2 contributed by other local companies, in an effort to inspire more people to donate to the project.
  • A professor at Purchase College was nominated for two Emmy Awards for "Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Special." David Grill was nominated for his work on the Superbowl Halftime Show featuring Beyonce and on the PBS special "Andrea Bocelli: Love in Portofino."
  • Harrison residents can expect to see their water rates increase 6.5 percent. The Westchester Joint Water Works increased the rates because the New York City water system, where it purchases its water, increased its rates 12.3 percent.
