HARRISON, N.Y. - Anthony Diquinzio and members of the Harrison Department of Public Works braved the heat Wednesday and coated the Ma Riis playground with an annual fresh layer of mulch and wood chips.
"Too bad we have to do this on one of the hottest days of the year," Diquinzio said.
Various parks and playgrounds in Harrison receive new layers of mulch and wood chips roughly once a year, Diquinzio said.
The playground maintenance came Wednesday, the day of downtown's third installment of the Harrison Summer Concert Series , which will feature '50s and '60s A cappella group Magic Touch.
The National Weather Service said Wednesday's temperatures went as high as 87 degrees. Thursday and Friday temperatures are expected to rise with highs at 94 and 95 degrees respectively.
Ma Riis park is located in front of the downtown Harrison library and across from the town's Alfred F. Sulla, Jr. Municipal Building.
