Malfitano Named Harrison's Deputy Mayor

HARRISON, N.Y. - Newly elected council member Stephen Malfitano will be named Harrison's Deputy Supervisor Thursday night when the board meets for the first time in 2012, according to the meeting's agenda.

The position will make Malfitano an additional $5,000 per-year and acts as a backup for Mayor/Supervisor Ron Belmont, who was also elected last November, in the event of an emergency or in the absence of the mayor.

It is the responsibility of the Harrison mayor to decide who will serve as deputy for each two-year term.

Malfitano was elected as a member of the Harrison town board last November and was sworn into the position on New Year's Day. He served as Harrison's mayor and supervisor between 2002 and 2008 before being ousted by Joan Walsh, who Belmont eventually beat in last November's election.
