Man Killed After Being Hit By Ambulance In Westchester

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - A man was fatally struck on a Westchester street early on Thursday morning, reportedly by an ambulance.

First-responders were dispatched to Mount Vernon Avenue in Mount Vernon near the intersection of Macquesten Parkway, at approximately 5 a.m. after an ambulance struck a man who was incapacitated in the roadway, police said.

A Take Good Care Transportation ambulance was the vehicle that struck the man - whose identity has not been released by police - according to a lohud report

Police said it is not clear why the man was in the road. 

Officials said the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation into the incident. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police closed down Mount Vernon Avenue between Terrace Avenue and McQuesten Parkway for several hours as they investigated.
