Manhattanville Professor Named SABR President

HARRISON, N.Y. - Purchase native and Manhattanville College Professor Vince Gennaro was elected president of the Society for American Baseball Research last month by members of the organization. Gennaro is an adjunct professor at the college and is also the executive director of the school's sports analytics institute.

"SABR is a 6,500 member non-profit organization, and a wonderful baseball community for anyone who has an interest in baseball history, research or statistics," 15-year member Gennaro said.

Gennaro teaches several courses at Manhattanville including "The Business of Baseball." He is also a Columbia University graduate professor and consultant to several major league baseball teams and the author of "Diamond Dollars: The Economics of Winning in Baseball."

"We are proud to have Vince associated with the sports business management program at Manhattanville," program Executive Director Dave Torromeo said. "Vince is first class in everything he does and we applaud him for yet another honor in an illustrious career."

In his 30-year business career, Gennaro was president of a division of PepsiCo and owner of a women's pro basketball team. He has been featured in coverage by The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Forbes.com, and CNN Money. He has also written for Yahoo! Sports, The Hardball Times, and is a frequent guest commentator on CNBC-TV.

Gennaro also serves on the advisory board of Celeritas Management and has served on the board of trustees of the Women's Sports Foundation.
