Manhattanville Women Fall to NYU

Courtney Turner and Jennifer McSharar each had double digit points and rebounds but their effort were not enough to turn back the New York University Violets in a 71-57 loss in New York City Wednesday.

New York University went on a seven-point run and opened up a 29-20 lead with 2:05 remaining in the first half and ended the half up 31-22. After the break the Violets hit a quick jumper and opened up an 11-point lead and led by 15 with 17:15 remaining.

Turner had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Valiants and McSharar added 14 points and 13 rebounds for the first double-double her career.

Manhattanville (3-5, 0-2 Freedom) will be back in action as part of the 2011 Cruzin' Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on December 17, taking on Messiah at noon. NYU (5-2, 3-0 UAA) will be back in action on December 30 at Brooklyn College.
