Metro-North Harlem, Hudson Lines Normal, New Haven Changes Monday

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. — Trains will run a regular weekday schedule on Monday morning on Metro-North Railroad’s Hudson and Harlem Lines, as well as on the New Haven Line between Stamford and Grand Central Terminal, Metro-North said late Sunday.

Several minor changes will be made in the service between Stamford and New York. The 6:11 a.m. from Stamford is canceled. Customers who usually catch the 7:35 a.m. out of Port Chester, which also stops at Rye at 7:39 a.m., will be accommodated on the local train that leaves Stamford at 6:59 a.m. — within five minutes of their regular time.

Also, some of the trains that usually stop at Greenwich will not run Monday.

New Haven Line customers should anticipate crowded trains.

The Haverstraw and Newburgh ferries as well as the Hudson Rail Link buses are running.

Trains will operate between New Haven and Stamford at about half of the normal weekday rush hour service level. Train service also will resume on the Danbury and New Canaan Branches but not the Waterbury branch. On the Danbury Branch, all morning trains will run except for the 6:18 a.m. departure.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority asks all customers to use caution when entering and exiting trains and on the platforms and stairs. 

A regular off-peak/midday scheduled will be in operation. The PM peak schedule will be available Monday morning. 

Crews worked day and night to remove deep snow from yards in New Haven and Bridgeport and to clear the track switches. In addition to Metro-North forces, about 45 maintenance workers from New York City Transit rode a diesel train to the Bridgeport and New Haven yards to assist in the cleanup effort. Another crew of 45 workers were to arrive at about 9:30 p.m. to continue working in the yards.

Metro-North ran empty trains up and down the line Sunday evening to help clear switches, overhead wires and train roofs to ensure that the infrastructure and trains are operating safely and reliably after the three-day hiatus.

Question....I have grown up with the trains running through the back of my yard. I currently live further from the tracks but I hear the blasting of the train horn for almost every single train that passes from Pelham to Mt Vernon. Can you please ask the people driving the train to show some mercy for the people who live between these two stations!!!! No more blasting horn please!

It used to be when the weather was cold, there were equipment problems with the subsequent delays. Now in the summer there are equipment problems and delays. When it rains, snows or gets cloudy out, there are delays. Then to top it off, they give themselves a six minute window before qualifying a train as being late. And the fares continue to rise as the service plummets. The MTS sucks!
