HARRISON, N.Y. ? Thousands of Harrison residents were still without power Monday, a week after Hurricane Sandy struck.

Although the number of residents in the dark decreased to 2,300 as of 5:30 a.m., there were still 2,059 without power as of 2 p.m., according to the Con Edison power outage map.

"The men and women of Con Edison, along with thousands of utility workers from around the country, are working with determination and professionalism to put our customers back in service," Craig Ivey, president of Con Edison, said in a statement. "We are running an aggressive, coordinated restoration campaign in response to the worst storm ever to hit New York.

"We will continue working around the clock until every home and business owner whose equipment was not damaged by the storm has power."

Previously, the most Con Edison customers to lose power was 203,000 after Hurricane Irene. Although more than 69,293 Westchester Con Edison customers were without power Monday morning, that number had decreased to 65,346 by 2 p.m. Con Edison serves 348,198 customers in Westchester.

Authorities were asking customers to report outages and downed wires to Con Edison and not through local emergency service lines. Customers can call 1-800-75-CONED or 1-800-752-6633.

When reporting an outage, customers are asked to have their Con Edison account numbers available and report whether their neighbors also have lost power. Customers who report outages will be called by Con Edison with their estimated restoration times as they become available, according to a press release. ?

All customers could expect power back by Nov. 11, Con Edison said Friday morning.
