'Must See' Art Show Opens at Neuberger in Harrison

HARRISON, N.Y. - Brooklyn resident Dana Schutz's work will be a popular destination at Harrison's Neuberger Museum of Art starting Sunday when "If the Face Had Wheels" art exhibit opens to the public.

Schutz, who was referred to by Flavorwire.com as one of the most coveted American painters of the past decade, was featured on the website's top-10 list of must-see fall art shows.

Schutz's first 10-year survey of the work was organized by the Neuberger Museum and features approximately 30 paintings and 12 drawings created between 2001 and the present.

"One of the most important young artists to emerge in the past 10 years, she developed a distinctive visual style characterized by vibrant color and raw and tactile brushwork," the museum said in a statement.

Schutz's work has become known for its fusing of fantasy and reality and humor and horror, the Neuberger Museum said.

"I embrace the area between which the subject is composed and decomposing, formed and formless, inanimate and alive," Schutz said of her work.
