New Internships Available at Harrison Library

HARRISON, N.Y. - Harrison Public Library Director Galina Chernykh announced four new internship opportunities available at the facility as efforts continue to expand and revamp services.

"The traditional library right now is evolving into a digital wonderland of Internet, e-books, videos, and social media," Chernykh said. "New interns can be on the front line of a wonderful transition."

The library is looking for local high school or college students to fill the roles of marketing, video production, computer education, and assistance with the children's center.

Chernkyh said the length of the internships can vary depending on when the students can arrange them. The library is willing to work with whichever boards of study necessary to assure credit is received. What's most important, Chernykh said, was getting people into the building to help the library continue to grow.

"We're looking for interns with a wide range of skills who share our mission," Chernykh said. "We want some fresh ideas."

Chernkyh joined the Harrison Public Library as the new director last summer and has since played an active role in promoting community outreach and participation. The library is currently in the process of drafting plans for future renovations and reconstruction, a process to which Chernykh has actively engaged the public.

Those seeking more detailed descriptions of the internship positions can email Chernkyh at gchernykh@wlsmail.org or call (914) 835-0324.
