Palosz died of a self-inflicted shotgun wound, according to police.
"Preliminary investigation has revealed that the gun was family owned and had been stored within a gun locker inside the home," Greenwich Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray said in a statement. "The incident continues to be investigated by members of the Greenwich Police Detective Division."
Gray added that the shotgun Palosz used was owned by his family and was stored in a gun locker.
Greenwich Police will not release any further information at this time with respect to the family, Gray said.
Greenwich First Selectman Peter Tesei is scheduled to hold a press conference on Wednesday regarding the incident.
Greenwich Police offered resources for coping with Palosz's death and for anyone else who has demonstrated suicidal thoughts or tendencies.
