Police Search Ends in Arrest in Scarsdale

SCARSDALE, N.Y. - Allison Sindone, Scarsdale resident, was putting on her sneakers in her Griffen Avenue home to take her son to the camp bus when her son came back inside after sitting on the front steps.

Sindone said she asked her 7-year-old if the bus was outside. Her son replied by saying a police officer just asked him if he saw someone running and to go back inside.

Shortly after, at around 8:40 a.m., two people, a male and a female, were located and were arrested on Griffen Avenue.

Westchester County Police Department, Mamaroneck Police Department, Scarsdale Police Department, New Rochelle Police Department and Harrison Police Department had been conducting a systematic search of the area for the suspects who allegedly fled a car accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway northbound by Weaver Street.

“At this point we are investigating reports of a motor vehicle accident on the Hutchinson River Parkway northbound by Weaver Street. Two people fled on foot from the scene,” said Lt. Henry Cetina from the Westchester County Police Department. Cetina said there was one minor injury as a result of the accident.

“The Hutch was backed up so we were hoping to get off the Hutch to avoid all the cop cars,” said Lisa Quigley of the traffic and police filled northbound Hutch as she sat in her car not moving on Griffen Avenue. “But we got stuck in more traffic.”

Traffic is again moving on Griffen Avenue.
