HARRISON, N.Y. - U.S. News and World Report and the Princeton Review recognized Purchase College last month, ranking the school one of the best liberal arts colleges in the country.
U.S. News and World Report's 2012 edition of best colleges ranked Purchase the ninth-best public liberal arts schools and the Princeton Review included Purchase among the 220 institutions classified as the best in the northeast.
While we are delighted by our high rankings, we remain focused on whats most important at Purchase College, and thats our mission to create a unique community that fosters an open-minded engagement with the creative process," College President Thomas J. Schwarz said. "We want to ensure our students personal development and open doors to professional opportunity."
Schwarz also cautioned that research methodologies vary and the criteria used to evaluate institutions sometimes has little to do with the actual quality of the education a student receives.
"Even though college rankings will continue to influence public perception about colleges and universities, we urge prospective students and their parents to carefully consider a schools academic disciplines and demands, degree of student engagement, and institutional mission.
