RYE, N.Y. -- A 51-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by two vehicles in Rye on Sunday evening.

Rye police said the pedesrian, visiting from the United Kingdom, was crossing Purchase Street at Cedar Street at about 6:30 p.m. .when he was hit by a southbound vehicle driven by a 65-year-old female who is a Rye resident.

The pedestrian was also struck by a vehicle traveling northbound by a 78-year-old female who is a Rye Brook resident, police said.

The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

The pedestrian was listed in critical condition on Monday with a head injury and multiple fractures, police said.

The Westchester County Accident Reconstruction Team was called in to help Rye police with the accident investigation. The roadway was closed for approximately four hours during the investigation.
